The Dalhousie University German Department seeks applications for a one-year 100% full-time limited term appointment (July 1 – June 30) at the Instructor level in German language and culture, effective July 1, 2019. The position is subject to budgetary approval. The Instructor will teach introductory and intermediate language and translation courses. The workload is equivalent to five full-credit (ten half-credit) classes during the one-year period, including one full-credit in the 2020 summer term.
Applicants preferably should have a Ph.D. in German or comparative linguistics/language pedagogy. Applicants with an MA degree will be considered on an individual basis as well. Native or native-equivalent command of German and English, as well as expertise in teaching the German language at the undergraduate level, are required. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and administrative skills.
